AFTER the success of the inaugural Contemporary Makers Fair back in February, Aspex gallery in Gunwharf Quays will once again be handing over its main exhibition space to showcase some of the very best contemporary craft in the region next month.

It is a professional development opportunity for local and regional artists, designers and makers where they will be able to exhibit and sell their work directly to the public.

The event will take place from 11am to 5pm on August 9 and 10.

Exhibitors are selected by the Aspex team to feature some of the very best contemporary craft in the region across a range of artistic media, including jewellery, ceramics, print making, glass, and textiles, among others.

The venue’s co-ordinator, Julia de Klerk, said: ‘We are very happy to once again be running this event after the great feedback we got from visitors back in February.

‘We wanted to design an event to showcase some of the best contemporary makers from the local area.

‘We work closely to support emerging artists, makers and designers.

‘An event like this is a great opportunity to showcase their work to the public in a gallery environment.’

If you are interested in taking part, there are still limited spaces available for artists and designer-makers to exhibit their work at the fair.

To apply for this opportunity please send an email containing five images of your work and your contact details to julia@aspex.org.uk. Costs to participants are £28 for a single day or £50 for the whole weekend.
