THE University of Portsmouth is working with a Hampshire company to help double its turnover.
The pairing sees the university linking up with Classic Folios, which makes leather manuals for new homeowners, in a Knowledge Transfer Partnership.
It means postgraduate student Eric Cerneaz, who gained a masters in business administration and his academic adviser will work with the company to steer its diversification.
His aim is to develop Classic Folios’ electronic business for its core client base in the residential property sector, and support its move into other markets.
In return, Classic Folios will provide training to enhance Mr Cerneaz’s business skills and specialist knowledge that can then be shared with other students, researchers and lecturers back at the university.
Dr Vijay Vyas of the University of Portsmouth’s Department of Strategy & Business Systems, will be Mr Cerneaz’s supervisor for the project.
He said: ‘In return for improving our business-related training and research, we aim to help Classic Folios reinvent itself as a business in order to reach much higher growth rates, and to start selling many more products in many more markets.’
Funding comes from a £70,000 grant from the Economic and Social Research Council and Technology Strategy Board.
