STUDENTS are to be given free travel to college, thanks to a partnership with a family coach operator.

Lucketts Travel Group has signed a three-year contract with Havant Sixth Form College to provide transport to students living at the outer reaches of its catchment area.

The service has two routes running currently, from Fareham and Liphook.

But from September the service will be extended, meaning students living in and around Selsey, Hayling Island and Bognor Regis will also get to use it.

Paul Barringer, sales and marketing director at Lucketts Travel Group, said: ‘We’re really excited about working with Havant Sixth Form College for at least the next three years.

‘The management clearly understand the benefits Lucketts Travel Group can offer sixth form colleges who want to get students into lessons safely and on time, whilst helping to reduce the impact of term-time travel on the environment.’

Lucketts Group has already had a bumper start to 2013.

Not only is the family-run firm on target to turn over close to £20m in 2013/14, but it has also expanded its fleet to 100 coaches.

Lucketts’ year got off to a racing start with a total rebrand of its fleet, pulling the group’s three divisions – Lucketts Travel, Coliseum Coaches and Worthing Coaches – together under one umbrella look. The firm says its success is down to the hard work of its staff and the investment in its employees and facilities in Fareham and its driver training programme.
