IT was party time for Salvation Army volunteers when Portsmouth’s Asda store treated them to a fun-filled bash.

Around 60 hard-working volunteers enjoyed a tea party, featuring cakes, sandwiches and refreshments, at the charity’s Lighthouse cafe in Albert Road thanks the Bridge Shopping Centre store.

Asda community colleague Tracy Smith and community centre manager Melvyn Thomas organised the event to say thank you for the work volunteers do to support disadvantaged people in the area.

Mr Thomas added: ‘We’re really grateful to Tracy and the other colleagues at Asda Portsmouth for their generosity in throwing a tea party for our volunteers. We can’t always reward as much as we’d like so when Tracy mentioned a tea party, I jumped at the chance.’
