MEMBERS of the public are invited to view the future plans for the former Hilsea bus depot.

Housing association First Wessex, which has a head office in Portsmouth, is due to unveil plans to regenerate the site in London Road and residents are invited to view the proposals at the Blue Lagoon in Hilsea Lido between 11am and 7pm on Monday.

The housing association will exhibit plans to redevelop the site and replace it with 59 flats, a medical facility, a pharmacy, 70 car parking spaces and an outdoor communal space.

First Wessex says the new development will open up views of the Hilsea Lines – the Victorian defences built to protect Portsmouth from attack in the 1860s.

Hazel Warwick, asset management director at First Wessex, said: ‘We’re delighted to display the proposed plans to regenerate the former Hilsea bus depot into highly sustainable, much needed affordable housing and believe our plans will transform this gateway to the city.’
