Portsmouth beats London as property prices soar

FIGURES show Portsmouth is second in the country for price house growth, only coming behind Manchester.

The data, from Hometrack, revealed Portsmouth saw an annual house price growth of 8.1 per cent.

Bournemouth and Southampton were in the top 10 with growths of 6.2 per cent and six per cent respectively.

Out of 20 cities tracked, London was in 10th position with an increase of 5.6 percent while Aberdeen saw house price growth decrease by five per cent. Hometrack said the London percentage is now acting as a drag on the overall rate.
