A FABULOUS cake depicting life at 1000 Lakeside has been created to celebrate the business park’s 40th birthday.

Carl Christian Cakes put together the sweet treat to help the Portsmouth commercial hub mark the occasion.

It was 40 years ago yesterday the Duke of Edinburgh officially unveiled the £17.2m home of IBM’s British headquarters in North Harbour – and signed the visitors book as a raft of other high-profile guests marked the occasion.

IBM has wound down its operation over the years but continues to have a presence at the park, which opened up more business space at 3000 Lakeside in September.

Lakeside general manager, Karen Tyrrell, said she had been ‘very humbled’ by the response to the video re-telling the site’s history on Facebook, and was delighted by the cake.
