A REVIEW is to be carried out into how Portsmouth City Council can improve opportunities for young people.

Members of the authority’s economic development, culture and leisure scrutiny panel will sit to discuss how university students and those in other types of further education can get more involved in city activities.

It follows on from a request by councillors in July for the review as the city seeks to drive up aspirations.

A meeting will take place on Thursday, September 10, to discuss the plans more.

It starts at 5.30pm and will be held on the ground floor of Portsmouth’s civic offices in meeting room A.

Members will also discuss who from outside of the panel should be called as part of the review to give evidence about work already being done to boost the offer for young people, and from those with new ideas. Tory councillor Jennie Brent is chairwoman of the panel.
