PORTSMOUTH’S minister has met the leader of the city council to discuss plans to regenerate the area.
Business minister Matthew Hancock, who became minister for Portsmouth in July, met Councillor Donna Jones and discussed a number of issues affecting the city.
These included the dockyard, which will be vacated by BAE Systems later this year and establishing a city-wide energy forum to meet growing power supply demands.
Mr Hancock said: ‘There’s a whole host of exciting opportunities just around the corner for Portsmouth.
‘I’ll be back in Portsmouth in the coming weeks and look forward to working closely with Donna to create local jobs and make sure that Portsmouth has the best deal.’
