PORTSMOUTH is one of the world’s premier waterfront cities and is up there with the likes of San Francisco and Tokyo, says Emirates boss Sir Tim Clark.
And he said that was another reason why he was so eager to see his airline firm invest.
‘I have been to many waterfront cities around the world, but I think Portsmouth rates among one of the best,’ he said.
‘People talk about San Francisco and Tokyo, but I love Portsmouth.
‘It’s too much of a well kept secret.
‘We need to go out and tell people about it. It has beautiful views, and has a fantastic maritime history.
‘There are a mosaic of opportunities here.’ Sir Tim was also asked who he wanted to see win the America’s Cup, given his company sponsors participant Team New Zealand. He said being British meant he would like to see Sir Ben Ainslie’s team succeed.
‘If Ben Ainslie and his team win, then the UK gets to hold the America’s Cup in an area of their choosing, which would be more than likely in UK waters, and make Portsmouth and the Solent very important.’
