PORTSMOUTH’S Historic Dockyard has another trophy on its shelf after winning gold in a top tourism award.

The attraction was given the gong in the large visitor attraction category of the Beautiful South Awards for Excellence.

Lincoln Clark, chief executive of the historic dockyard, said: ‘We’re delighted to have won gold in the Beautiful South awards for tourism excellence. To win gold as a large visitor attraction is a huge achievement. This award recognises the hard work and commitment from all our attractions that makes the historic dockyard such a success.’
