OWNERS of Portsmouth’s Liquid and Envy insist the nightclub will remain open – despite going into administration.

Britain’s biggest nightclub owner Luminar Group, which runs 75 clubs including the venue at Stanhope Road in Landport, announced the move after failing to get its bankers to extend its credit facilities.

The waiver of the company’s three-year banking facility with Lloyds, Barclays and the Royal Bank of Scotland, granted in May, expired yesterday.

The group’s shares were suspended at 0.7p on the London Stock Exchange on Wednesday.

The planned appearance of chart-busting DJ Calvin Harris is currently still set to go ahead at Liquid and Envy in Portsmouth on November 13 as part of the star’s nationwide tour of Luminar venues.

Stephen Lynn, spokesman for Luminar, said: ‘Liquid and Envy will continue to trade and provide the clubbers of Hampshire the best night out for the foreseeable future.’
