A POST office is in line for a refurbishment, more kiosks and longer opening hours.

The Post Office at The Southern Co-operative store, in The Square, Wickham, is about to undergo modernisation as part of the Post Office’s national rolling programme of investment and improvement.

From Monday, April 20, there will be three modern counters – two main screened positions open Monday to Saturday from 9am until 5.30pm and there will also be a Post Office serving point at the retail counter, offering selected goods, during shop opening hours.

Gary Trodd, Post Office services manager at The Southern Co-operative, said: ‘The Southern Co-operative is very supportive of the changes.

‘It is seen as a positive move forward for customers as it makes the Post Office’s services more conveniently available for our customers, who can access them whenever our store is open.’

Adrian Skinner, Post Office area manager, said: ‘We know how important Post Office services are to residents in Wickham and we are confident this vibrant modern Post Office, at the heart of the community, will be popular.

‘The modernisation is part of a major government investment programme.’

The Post Office will close for refurbishment from 5.30pm on Monday, April 13, however, the retail store will remain open.
