MORE than 700 houses were left without heat and light for more than an hour in a power cut.

Power went out in an area including Dunbar Road, Perth Road, and Hester Road in Eastney at about 8.20pm.

Southern Electric said that a fuse blew in the sub station serving the roads, but the power was restored shortly after 9.20pm.

A spokesman apologised for the inconvenience.
