More than 2,000 homes in Cosham, Horndean and Cowplain were hit by a power cut today.

Southern Electric said that 2,500 premises lost supplies at 8.15am today.

Spokesman Duncan MacDonald said engineers had managed to restore all power by 9.40am.

He said that a cable fault had caused the initial problem in Cosham and that homes in Horndean and Cowplain were then affected by a resutant trip at a local sub-station.
