PUBLIC relations consultancy Polymedia raised more than £400 for Help for Heroes with a cake sale as part of a campaign to support the charity’s annual baking drive.

Polymedia held the sale at its offices in Fareham, as the team began to wrap up a four-week media campaign in support of H4H’s Bake for Heroes initiative.

Local businesses, clients, suppliers and supporters turned out in force to tuck in to rainbow cakes, puff pastry treats, shortbread and cupcakes made by Polymedia staff and their families.

The consultancy also raised funds by raffling a 7ft teddy bear in support of the campaign. The final total of £425 will go directly to supporting wounded, injured and sick service personnel, veterans and their loved ones.

During the campaign on behalf of H4H, Polymedia raised awareness of the Bake for Heroes fundraiser through partnerships with regional media, including The News, and coverage in print, social media, online news outlets and regional radio.

Bake for Heroes has raised a total of more than £850,000 in previous years, and the target this year is to break through the £1m barrier.

Cake sales have been held up and down the country, with most taking place during the campaign’s two focus weeks from April 15 to 30.

Graeme Patfield, director of client services at Polymedia, said: ‘This has been another successful campaign for H4H, and having put so much time and effort into encouraging others around the country to get baking for our heroes, we just had to stage one for ourselves!

‘We’re not particularly experienced bakers but we were pleased with the treats we produced and delighted at the support we received from businesses in the area and from clients and associates of Polymedia.

‘We are pleased that our fundraising and the support that we have given Help for Heroes throughout this campaign will help to continue the amazing work that H4H does for so many wounded, injured and sick service personnel, veterans and their loved ones.’
