TICKETS for a new real ale and cider festival went on sale at two Southsea pubs today.

Customers can now grab a ticket to Southsea Beerex from The Leopold Tavern, in Albert Road, and The Belle Isle, in Osborne Road.

The event is being held at the Wedgewood Rooms from March 20 and 21 and is the mastermind of Stuart Ainsworth, landlord of The Leopold Tavern.

Tickets have already been on sale from the Wedgewood Rooms website.

Stuart said: ‘The plans are going well, and we are busy sourcing the beer and sorting the live music out.

‘Ticket sales are going well – it’s still early days yet as some people tend to buy tickets in the month or days before (an event like this).

‘The organisation is going smoothly.

‘It’s coming together nicely.’

As reported, Stuart came up with the idea as he wants to bring the area closer together, and knew the Wedge would be the perfect place.

Around 80 different ales and a selection of cider and bottled beers will be on offer for thirsty punters.

Guests will be treated to live music.

Stuart is holding the bash at the nearby Wedgewood Rooms, after getting the backing of Geoff Priestley, the venue’s manager.

Tickets cost £10 each and the price includes a souvenir festival glass and programme.

The event will come on the back of the Campaign for Real Ale’s Winterfest.

The annual beer bash is being held at Thorngate Halls, in Gosport, from February 21 to 22.
