THE region’s hospitality and tourism industry has been showing what it can offer young people looking for a career.

Nearly 200 pupils from secondary schools across the Portsmouth region went to an annual Hospitality Skills Fair of the Greater Portsmouth Hoteliers Association, held at the city’s Marriott Hotel.

The Marriott, Hilton and De Vere joined local hotels Lysses House Hotel in Fareham, Langstone Hotel on Hayling Island and Solent Hotel & Spa in Whiteley to offer activities and demonstrations for visitors to enjoy and learn from.

Organiser Jacquie Jones, of the Portsmouth and South East Hampshire Education Business Partnership, said: ‘We appreciate the effort from the local hotels and colleges who provided hands-on activities and a chance for students to talk to a wide variety of business professionals about their work and what it really means to do those jobs.’
