PROPERTY investors from across the UK will be wooed by Portsmouth City Council in a bid to encourage investment in the city.

The council will be at the MIPIM UK property trade show at London’s Olympia from tomorrow to Friday, along with other councils in the Solent area and major local businesses and companies.

Council leader Donna Jones said: ‘This inaugural event is a huge opportunity to tell investors and developers why Portsmouth is a success story and how they can be part of that success.

‘We’ll be talking about sites such as Lakeside North Harbour, the city centre, The Hard and the area to the west of Tipner, opened up by our new M275 junction – all possibilities for new developments. We want to flag up our proposed business park off the A3M, Dunsbury Hill Farm, and the opportunities for major hotels, boosted by our booming tourist industry.

‘We’ll be talking about our expertise in hi-tech industries, including the aerospace and the marine sectors. We’ll be highlighting Sir Ben Ainslie’s new America’s Cup HQ and our thriving naval base.’

She added: ‘Portsmouth is being transformed, with £2bn of investment in the pipeline.

‘There’s a real buzz about the city and about the whole Solent area.’
