THE rapid bus route between Gosport and Fareham has won a national award.

The Eclipse Bus Rapid Transit (BRT), which is run by Hampshire County Council and First Hampshire and Dorset, won the national Route One Award for Operator Excellence 2014 in the environment category.

The service runs along a disused public railway line, from Redlands Lane in Fareham to Tichborne Way in Gosport.

Transport head Councillor Sean Woodward said: ‘This award is testament to all the hard work and dedication that has made it successful.’
