A CHARITY shop is celebrating the success of its new reading room.

Sue Ryder charity shop, in the Stubbington Mall, on Stubbington Green, opened the dedicated room last week.

Manager Linda Pitts has been overwhelmed by its popularity.

She said: ‘We have had to order in more books to keep up with demand and, as we are the only charity shop in the village, as ever, we have been well supported by local residents.’

The room has an array of second-hand books, records, DVDs and CDs. It has a record player so customers can play records before they buy and there are comfy chairs for people to relax and read before making a purchase.

The profits go to Sue Ryder, a national charity which provides care to people with end of life and long-term needs.
