DEDICATED Rebecca Attwood is hoping to bring joy to people’s lives as she has taken on the responsibilty of ensuring that newly-married couples enjoy their wedding day celebrations at the Portsmouth Marriott Hotel.

Rebecca went to Purbrook Park School and studied childcare at South Downs College before attending an event that was to change her life.

She said: ‘I was a bridesmaid at my friend’s wedding at The Queen’s Hotel in Southsea in 2010 and I got talking to the events co-ordinator. I told her about the charity events I regularly ran in aid of Help for Heroes at the Hampshire Rose in Widley, how much I enjoyed organising them and that I wished I’d pursued it as a career.

‘She told me about the position of wedding co-ordinator that had just been created at the hotel and within two weeks I was working there.’

In 2013, after three years at The Queen’s Hotel, Becky went on to manage weddings at The Solent Hotel in Whiteley and, after another three years, has now joined Marriott Portsmouth in North Harbour as wedding and special events co-ordinator.

She said: ‘I’m really excited to be given the opportunity.’

The hotel won Team of the Year at The News’ Business Excellence Awards this year.
