A REPORT is to be drawn up explaining why a blunder was made paying people in Portsmouth their housing benefits.

Members of the city council’s governance and audit and standards committee will pore over the document on Friday, January 30, and debate how the system can be improved to ensure problems do not emerge again.

As reported, there was a delay paying more than 5,000 residents their benefits due to a suspected error electronically processing payments to the council’s bank on time. The meeting is scheduled for 2.30pm.
