Franco and Paolo Ristorante Italiano, in Locks Heath Shopping Village, held a special charity luncheon for 40 local ladies which raised approximately £1,700.

The ladies enjoyed a three-course set meal while partaking in a selection of activities, including a charity raffle.

Diners were also entertained by a local magician, Jon Harris and talented singer, Debbie C. Now the owners of the restaurant have plans to repeat the fundraising effort due to the good reaction and amount of money raised.

Franco Adani, owner of Franco and Paolo, said: ‘It was a delight to host the ladies charity luncheon and I’m thrilled we have raised around £1,700 for such a worthy cause.

‘We regularly host events like this and encourage all local residents to get in touch with us if they’re looking to do the same.’

The owners of the Italian restaurant hosted the charity event after they were approached by a regular customer who wanted to raise money for Bowel Cancer UK after she sadly lost a loved one to the disease. More than 41,500 men and women are diagnosed with bowel cancer every year in the UK, making it the fourth most common cancer in the country.

Although bowel cancer is the second most common cause of death in the UK, if diagnosed early, it is very treatable.

This is why Bowel Cancer UK is so important as they strive to raise awareness of the symptoms of the disease, so that sufferers can act on their concerns and have the best chance of survival.

Ian Goodridge, Locks Heath Shopping Village’s centre manager, added: ‘I would like to say a huge congratulations to Franco and Paolo for all the hard work they put into helping the local community.

‘They host spectacular events and I’m delighted to hear they raised a fantastic amount of money for the charity.’
