EXCITEMENT is growing ahead of Portsmouth Beer Festival.

The spectacle returns to Portsmouth Guildhall on Friday May, 12 and Saturday, May 13.

Beers from local and national brewers will run through the taps.

A huge selection of ales will feature to suit the season, including regular favourites.

The craft beer bar will return with a host of draught beers. Festival co-organiser Ben Miles said: ‘The rise of craft beer has been phenomenal over the past few years, and it’s something we had to include in our offering.

‘We like to be able to offer all the traditional hallmarks of a beer festival, but with the addition of the modern expectations of the discerning beer drinkers.

‘The choice nowadays is huge and we like to celebrate that at Portsmouth Beer Festival as much as possible.’

A gin bar and wine bar have been added for the first time. The Prosecco bar will also return. Funds will be collected for Portsmouth Down Syndrome Association.

Live entertainment will be in store; Kojaks Revenge are to headline the Friday evening session, The Tiddley Kinks, a tribute to Ray Davies and The Kinks top the Saturday afternoon bill and favourites The Silver Beatles close the Saturday night session.

There will also be the usual foodie favourites to help wash down the beers including a hog roast, BBQ and pizza.
