SHOPPERS can reach new heights thanks to a climbing wall at a shopping centre.

Commonwealth Games gold medallist Kelly Simm was at Whiteley Shopping Centre yesterday to open its latest attraction at store Rock Up.

As well as the various climbing walls, which have over 70 different climbing combinations, the store has a soft play area and a cafe.

Kelly said: ‘It’s cool.

‘When I heard about it, it sounded like such a good idea.

‘I’ve done it a little bit but not like this. There’s so many different walls.’

Along with a standard wall, there are moving wall parts, speed climbs and inflatable climbs.

Operations director for Rock Up Aaran Eade said: ‘Our climbing walls provide a fun and exhilarating challenge, building confidence and strength across all age groups. We have combined this with a quality cafe serving home-cooked food.’

Whiteley’s centre manager Neil Carter added: ‘We’re excited to welcome Rock Up
to Whiteley and know families in the area are going to love it.

‘We pride ourselves on having a great variety of shops and hosting events that mean Whiteley is a great day out for people of all ages.’
