A SCHEME has been launched in Fareham and Gosport to reward food businesses for providing their customers with healthier eating choices.

The ‘Eat Out, Eat Well’ scheme will help food businesses make small changes to their menu such as reducing the fat, sugar and salt levels of dishes and offering other healthy options.

Executive member for public protection at Fareham Borough Coucnil Cllr Trevor Cartwright said: ‘According to the UK Food Standards Agency, one in six meals are now consumed outside the home.

‘We have lots of great places to eat in Fareham and the Eat Out, Eat Well scheme is part of a wider approach to help make small changes to people’s lifestyles, in order to improve their overall health.’

Businesses in Fareham and Gosport with a food hygiene rating of at least three can sign up. They will then be given a bronze, silver or gold award which can be displayed for two years. To apply call 01329 236100 or email regulatory@fareham.gov.uk
