A new chief executive has been appointed at a Ministry of Defence site in Portsmouth.

The Defence Science and Technology Laboratory, (DSTL) based at Portsdown Hill Road, has announced that its current director Jonathan Lyle will take up the role in March next year.

Mr Lyle, who was also former head of The Royal Corps of Naval Constructors, will replace current chief executive Dr Frances Saunders.

Dr Saunders, who had been in the role for the past five years, announced her intention to stand down in June.

She said she wanted to congratulate Mr Lyle on his appointment to the position.

‘These are interesting times for DSTL. I am confident Jonathan can lead it through its next phase of development,’ she said.
