A BUDDING entrepreneur has revealed how losing 10 stone has given her the confidence to open her own business.

Alison Uff has just opened the Quay Side Sandwich Bar in Gosport.

The cafe offers hot and cold food including sandwiches, jacket potatoes, cakes and paninis.

Running her own cafe, based at the Hardway, has been a dream of Alison’s for some years.

The new owner credits her recent weight loss journey for giving her the confidence to fulfil her dream.

Alison said: ‘I have always wanted to do this but being overweight, I didn’t have the belief in myself.

‘I found it hard to leave the house, so I couldn’t even imagine that this could be possible!’

Through Slimming World, Alison lost a total of 10 stone.

Alison said she was overwhelmed with the support shown to her by the group, who hold meetings at the Salvation Army in Gosport.

The entrepreneur was so impressed with the service, she decided to introduce slimmer-friendly options to her menu.

She said: ‘Every week in group I come away with motivation and inspiration.

‘I have incorporated slimming friendly options on the menu because I want people to be able to eat out and still feel in control of their weight loss journey,

‘I am also catering for those who are not trying to lose weight but may want a healthy option. It’s all about choice.’

Jo Carey, the leader of Alison’s Slimming World group, said: ‘I’m tremendously proud of Ali. Her openness to shop, cook and eat more healthily has given her this amazing weight loss.

‘To see her confidence growing week by week is a true privilege and I am so thrilled that she is fulfilling her dreams.’
