THE Solent Local Enterprise Partnership is to hold its official launch on Tuesday, July 26.

The organisation, which stretches from Dorset to West Sussex and the Isle of Wight, is made up of business people, education professionals and civic leaders.

The government gave the Solent LEP the green light to set up in October last year.

The group supports the government’s Local Growth Plan, which aims to promote locally-driven growth, encourage investment in the region’s businesses, and promote economic growth.

The board of the Solent LEP was elected in May 2011 – the first of its kind in the UK to be elected.

The launch event will be held at the Southampton City Cruise Terminal, Dock Gate 10, between midday and 4pm.

The event will provide the opportunity to meet the LEP and network.

Key note speakers will include the LEP chairman, Doug Morrison, and David Dingle, CEO of Carnival UK.

The event includes lunch, discussions and a plenary session.
