HUSBAND and wife duo Mike and Debbie Watts of the Solent Mobility Centre in Lee-on-the-Solent were invited to a volunteers reception at the Houses of Parliament.

Caroline Dinenage MP invited the pair and other local businesses, as guests to the reception to say a big ‘thank you’ to the community organisers and charity workers, who do so much valuable work in her constituency.

Mike Watts, director of Solent Mobility Centre, said: ‘We felt very privileged to be invited guests and were in great company with many other businesses like ourselves who get involved with the local community and business associations.

‘Our sons Jamie and Ben also work with us in the business and are very keen to take part in charity events for the Rainbow Centre in Fareham and Lara Bull, chairwoman of the charity, was also a guest at the reception.

Mike’s wife Debbie, also a director of the company, added: ‘I have recently been voted in as chairwoman of the Lee Business Association, which is very exciting.

‘I am really looking forward to developing the group further and involving the whole community and working together to hold more events throughout the year, as our recent D-Day celebrations were a great success.

‘Our high street and local independent traders have a great offering.

‘We feel we need to promote and encourage the “shop local” message and raise the profile of Lee-on-the-Solent as there is so much on offer.’

The pair recently celebrated the 10th anniversary of being in business in Lee-on-the-Solent.
