Southampton Airport officials have reassured passengers that it will be providing regular services in the wake of the terror attacks in Belgium.

The airport has a scheduled flight today to Antwerp, which is expected to run as normal.

A spokeswoman from the airport said: ‘It is business as usual at Southampton Airport, where safety and security remain our highest priority.

‘We do not have any regular scheduled services into Brussels so we do not expect disruption to flights today.

‘We are shocked and saddened by the news and our thoughts are with everyone in Brussels.’

At least 13 are feared dead and many more were injured after terrorist bomb attacks on the main airport and Metro system in Brussels.

Two blasts tore through the departures area of Zaventem airport shortly after 8am local time this morning.

Flags outside the civic offices in Portsmouth’s Guildhall Square are flying at half mast as a sign of solidarity.
