Staff go for gold of their own

STAFF at Chichester’s John Lewis at Home store have donated 63 hours in a week to help out a good cause.

They have been helping with vital renovation work at Tuppenny Barn in West Sussex.

Set up in 2005, Tuppenny Barn is a small holding dedicated to growing high quality, affordable organic produce for the local community.

It also works with local schools to teach young people how organic food production works in harmony with the environment.

The number of hours the staff donated came about after a promise the store made to give one hour of staff time to a good cause for every gold medal Team GB won at last summer’s Olympic and Paralympic Games.

The 19 staff who went to the barn spent time on two major projects, including sprucing up the greenhouse, and building a structure to support trailing plants.
