ALMOST £9m of government cash to help install superfast rural broadband in Hampshire has been welcomed by an MP.

Meon Valley MP George Hollingbery said the money will help business start-ups and job creation in the countryside.

‘I have been a vociferous advocate of getting superfast broadband to the Meon Valley and other parts of Hampshire because it is a major driver to the rural economy – it creates jobs and wealth,’ explained Mr Hollingbery.

‘It would appear this money will allow communities in my constituency get the superfast connection quicker than they anticipated and this is great news.

‘The fact is that this sort of infrastructure spending is vital if Britain is to remain competitive.’
