BUSINESSES with multiple premises will now find it easier to claim grants for superfast broadband.

People in Portsmouth, Fareham, Gosport and Havant will benefit from changes to the Connection Voucher Scheme, which gives vouchers to local companies to help them boost their internet connections.

Up to now, firms could only upgrade one business property’s connection.

Now, businesses with more than one trading location in these areas can upgrade them all within a £3,000 limit.

The Connection Voucher Scheme, funded by the Department of Culture, Media and Sport, provides grants of up to £3,000 to help install superfast broadband.

Councillor Luke Stubbs, Portsmouth City Council’s cabinet member for planning, regeneration and economic development, said: ‘Small businesses and start-ups often struggle to meet the capital costs of installing superfast broadband.

‘This grant scheme is here to help businesses to get connected and increase efficiency, and we want to encourage businesses to take advantage of this scheme. Having a reliable and fast broadband service is vital to future growth.’
