A council is adding its weight to a campaign to encourage more people to use local shops and businesses more regularly.
Gosport Borough Council has lent its support to Small Business Saturday which, as reported in The News, takes place this weekend.
‘Small Business Saturday is a great opportunity for Gosport’s small businesses to promote themselves, generate trade and attract new customers,’ said Cllr Stephen Philpott, chairman of the economic regeneration board at Gosport Borough Council.
He added: ‘We are keen to see as many local businesses as possible highlighting their participation in Small Business Saturday.’
Small Business Saturday is a national campaign highlighting that for every £100 spent in a local business, £68 is likely to stay in the community, helping the local economy.
