WHEN Rachel Lowe watched the first full bottles of her perfume roll off the production line, there were tears in her eyes.

Not just a sweet smelling product, the perfume was the result of two years of hard work and painstaking attention to detail.

And, on Saturday, that perfume was finally launched to the world in Portsmouth, Rachel’s home town.

Called Eminence, the fragrance is the first of Rachel’s firm She Who Dares.

She said: ‘The public have been brilliant.

‘I had such a good day and I’ve had people coming up and congratulating me and talking to the team. It’s been really good.’

Rachel is well known for her Destination series of board games – a Monopoly-style game where players travel around various places by cab.

But then the recession happened, a contract was delayed, and the banks wouldn’t cover the shortfall.

Rachel lost her business, her home and her health, and had to start again from scratch. One of the things that saved her, she says, was receiving an MBE for services to business, ironically at the same time her business was folding. So she started thinking about her next venture, and wanted to produce a range of gifts to give the inspiring women in your life: and She Who Dares was born.

She said: ‘She Who Dares was inspired by my MBE and the sense of pride it gave me.

‘It’s an emotion I really wanted to communicate in the She Who Dares brand.

‘It’s about never giving up.’

Describing the notes of her first fragrance Eminence, Rachel said: ‘It’s a very fresh floral scent.

‘We have the second fragrance coming out in the summer called Dalliance and it’s a bit more evening, slightly heavier, but still floral.

‘They are stunning, I wear them every day.’

Rachel was inundated with visitors to the launch who had read her story over the past eight years in The News and shared their own inspirational stories with her.
