PEOPLE in Portsmouth are being encouraged to register with Switch Hampshire.

The new collective energy switching scheme could save households between £60 and £200 a year on energy bills.

The scheme works by combining the buying power of residents in order to negotiate better deals with energy suppliers.

Residents have until midnight on Monday, June 3 to register for the scheme using information from their latest energy bill.

Switch Hampshire will then negotiate with suppliers and contact everyone who has registered with details of how much they could save.

Councillor Eleanor Scott, Portsmouth City Council’s cabinet member for environment and community safety, said: ‘The more people who sign up, the greater the savings could be.

‘As it is free and there’s no obligation to switch, then there really is nothing to lose, but hopefully plenty of pounds to gain.’

Switch Hampshire will manage the whole process for anyone who does choose to switch.

Register now at hants.gov.uk/switch or call 01962 846828. Lines are open 9am to 5pm Monday to Friday.
