Taste of Spain comes to Milton with new takeaway restaurant

Tapaway, in Eastney Road, Milton, opened last month and is owned by Vlad Covaciu, 27, from Portsmouth.

Vlad said: ‘We have delicious food.

‘We are the only Spanish restaurant in Portsmouth that offers takeaway.’

Diners can also sit and eat at the restaurant, where Vlad says they can enjoy the ‘relaxing atmosphere’.

The menu contains a variety of popular Spanish tapas dishes.

‘Our food is 100 per cent authentic and home-made,’ said Vlad.

‘We are different to other places because all the food we are making is healthy. We only make our food in slow cookers.’

The first-time business owner said that Tapaway offers customers a unique experience, as there is a very limited choice of Spanish cuisine available in the area.

Vlad says his best dish is the Spanish omelette. There are also many other popular items on the menu, including marinated pork meatballs and mussels.

Vlad’s chef also adds an authentic element to the restaurant.

‘My chef has over 20 years’ experience in cooking traditional Spanish cuisine,’ he said.

Customers can order their food from home as Tapaway can deliver all across Portsmouth, including destinations as far out as Cosham.

Vlad said: ‘Business has been going all right so far and we have received some good reviews.’

Tapaway is open Monday to Saturday from 9am to 10pm, and serves breakfast, lunch and dinner.

The building was previously home to an English breakfast cafe called the Eastney Lunchbox.
