Television show fame for Titchfield garden centre

GARDEN centre Hambrooks has been featured on an episode of the BBC series The Instant Gardener.

Hambrooks Garden Destination Centre, in Southampton Road, Titchfield, appeared on the BBC1 show last month, as part of a one-day garden makeover.

The centre was chosen because the show wanted to include gardens that not only demonstrated, but also inspired, ‘outdoor living’.

Hambrooks has 16 Chelsea show gardens that feature different styles of gardens and planting ideas that are can be used for general makeover ideas or to create unusual areas in an existing garden.

Presenter Helen Skelton took the programme’s guest around the gardens as they discussed what features were useful for child-friendly gardens and how quirky accessories can add that little extra special touch.

Helen also interviewed Hambrook’s award-winning designer Mike Hodges, who designed the show gardens.

Mike said: ‘Helen was particularly interested in how gardening seating can double up as storage areas as demonstrated in the show garden ‘The Cook’s Haven’. She was also keen to know if outdoor kitchens were easy to keep clean, which I assured her that, built with the right materials, they are.’
