PIZZA lovers are getting more than just a tasty treat from a Bishop’s Waltham restaurant – they are learning to speak the lingo too.

The Italian lessons are proving a popular feature at Piccola Roma restaurant, on Houchin Street.

Owner Charlie Anzano, 46, launched the classes after keen customers wanted to brush up on their language skills before going on holiday.

Charlie and her husband Erasmo Anzano, who is from Rome, took over the restaurant two years ago.

The couple have been working to make the restaurant more than just a pizza shop, with some help from Italian teacher Giovanni Barsochi.

Charlie said: ‘We are an Anglo-Italian couple and we want to celebrate all things Italian and make it more than just food. We will do anything for the love of Italy.’

The beginner lessons run every Saturday from 10am until 11am for five weeks.

An intermediate class runs from 11.30am until 12.30pm and costs £7.50.

The restaurant can also provide private lessons and offers an ‘Italian table’ whereby people can enjoy a meal, with their orders taken by an Italian-speaking waiter.
