UPSCALE supermarket chain Waitrose has reported record sales for the festive period.

The company, which has branches in Havant, Waterlooville, Gosport and Southsea, said total branch sales between November 4 and December 24 were up 7.7 per cent on a year ago and by 4.3 per cent on a like-for-like basis. And customer numbers were up by 4.5 per cent for the period.
