A TIMBER merchants has negotiated a sponsorship deal with Portsmouth Football Club.

Covers, which is based in Sussex House, Quarry Lane, Chichester and also has a Portsmouth depot has renewed its sponsorship with the club for a further two years.

The company has had its name on the back of Pompey shirts this season, and says it has been ‘so delighted’ by the response, it has extended its contract with the club.

Covers regional director Steve Weston said: ‘Having been part of this incredible journey with the club being saved by the fans and having the opportunity of being a main sponsor this season, Covers are delighted to confirm that we have renewed our sponsorship for a further two years.’

Covers, which has been trading for more than 165 years, has, in the past, sponsored the North Stand at Fratton Park.

The football club is also delighted to have the company back on board.

Mark Catlin, chief executive officer of Portsmouth Football Club, said: ‘Covers are a great example of what a partnership with a local company is all about.

‘They have been a long-standing supporter of the club, but clearly the relationship is not just one-way.’

He added: ‘It is fantastic news they have decided to extend their sponsorship with us.’
