ISSUES with the environment and jobs were brought up during the latest hearing over a council’s housing plan.

An independent inquiry is being held into Fareham Borough Council’s Development Sites and Policies Plan to see if its proposed sites for housing in the town are sound.

At yesterday’s latest hearing, the inspector asked the authority to consider if its plan was flexible enough to cover all uses in the countryside such as garden development. There was talk over whether the council’s proposed allocation of land at Solent Business Park at Whiteley and at Little Park Farm at Segensworth for employment remained realistic.

The inquiry does not cover the plan for Welborne, which was subject to a separate inquiry last month.
