HAVANT has been named as one of the UK’s top pumpkin capitals as 6,984 pumpkins were sold at the Larchwood Avenue branch of Asda in the lead-up to Halloween.
The rocketing of sales, which contributes to a nationwide figure of 1.3m in the last week, makes Havant the 13th highest-selling town.
Doncaster is topping the table, with 8,920 pumpkins shifted. The supermarket chain expects to have sold as many as 2.1m pumpkins by the end of trade yesterday.
A spokesman said: ‘It’s been one of our best years for pumpkin sales as Brits are getting creative, carving and cooking pumpkins.’
