TRAIN operator Southern Rail was among the worst ranked for customer satisfaction, a survey has revealed.

The company, which runs trains from Chichester and Bognor stations via Havant and Portsmouth, saw 77 per cent of passengers say they were satisfied with the service.

Railway watchdog Passenger Focus revealed the figures, which included those for South West Trains, which showed overall passenger satisfaction was 80 per cent and satisfaction with station cleanliness was 72 per cent.

Anthony Smith, chief executive of the watchdog, said: ‘Rail passengers’ satisfaction is driven by getting trains on time. Many are being let down – fare increases, billions in government investment and promises of improvement don’t seem to be delivering change on the ground.’
