UNEMPLOYMENT in the Portsmouth area has fallen again but at a slower rate than previous months.
Portsmouth had the biggest decline in people claiming Jobseeker’s Allowance, with 139 more people in employment.
The figure fell from 2,535 to 2,396.
There was also a significant drop in Gosport from 768 to 696 - a decrease of 72.
But neighbouring town Fareham had the lowest decrease of seven from 486 to 479.
In Havant, 14 more people find employment with 1,180 residents claiming the benefit. Last month, the figure was 1,194.
Thre was no change in East Hampshire, with the figure staying at 406.
Nationally, the Office for National Statistics showed unemployment fell by 43,000 to 1.81m in the three months to April.
This was the lowest fall since August 2008.
