THERE has been another fall in the number of people claiming Jobseekers’ Allowance in the Portsmouth region.
Figures from the Office for National Statistics released this morning show 513 across our area stopped claiming the benefit between May and June, a fall from 13,131 to 12,618.
The most dramatic fall was seen in Havant, with 111 few claimants taking the claimant total from 2,576 to 2,465.
Portsmouth’s East Hampshire both saw claimant numbers fall by 78.
For Gosport this was a fall from 1,607 to 1,529; for East Hampshire the total reduced from 1,029 to 951.
Chichester’s claimant numbers fell by 76, from 1,352 to 1,276.
And Fareham’s figures fell by 62, from 1,323 to 1,261.
Nationally, unemployment fell by 65,000 to 2.58million, statistics showed.
