FORMULA one world champion Sebastian Vettel is set to thrill fans by making his first appearance at the Goodwood Festival of Speed.
The brilliant young German driver will pilot his championship-winning Red Bull car up the hillclimb course at the world-renowned event near Chichester, being held from June 29 to July 1.
Goodwood owner Lord March revealed the news at a press day held today to launch the estate’s motorsport season, which also includes the Revival historic race meeting from September 14 to 16.
Lord March said: ‘I’m delighted to confirm that Sebastian will be joining us at the festival and roaring up the hill.’
He also announced that other F1 stars who will put on a tyre-smoking show include fellow world champions Lewis Hamilton and Jenson Button.
He added: ‘We’ll have seven Formula One teams here and there is no other event in the world where that happens.’
The festival will also celebrate the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee by featuring vehicles she has personally used in a special Cartier Style et Luxe concours d’elegance.
The press day saw more than 100 racing cars and bikes and exotic roadgoing machines take turns to blast past Goodwood House.
Meanwhile motorbike trials hero Dougie Lampkin displayed his amazing skill on a special obstacle course and rally cars sent dust flying on the forest stage.
Famous faces joining in the fun included Le Mans winners Jacky Ickx, Jochen Mass, Jackie Oliver and Emanuele Pirro. Celebrity chef James Martin was also there, driving his own Ferrari 275 GTB.
