A DENMEAD-BASED medical device expert, Microsulis Medical, has announced a deal to sell its life-saving equipment in Australia and New Zealand.

Its groundbreaking Acculis Microwave Tissue Ablation system is used by surgeons to blast unwanted tissue and cells such as cancerous lesions or tumours in the liver, lung or kidney.

The firm has signed a deal with distributor N Stenning & Co to sell its products in Australia and New Zealand following great reviews from surgeons and radiologists.

Stuart McIntyre, chief executive of Microsulis, said: ‘Feedback from our Australian and New Zealand customers has been extremely positive.

‘We are delighted to now be in a position to offer this advanced device to the wider market through a competent and trusted company.’

Flinders Medical Centre in Adelaide has used the MTA system since the beginning of 2011.

Dr John Chen, senior consultant surgeon said: ‘Our initial experience has been good. It is also safer for patients, as it reduces the risk of serious complications.’
